The effect of three different Amcor Stelvin screw caps with different oxygen transfer rates on bottled Chardonnay wine were compared in this study. The chemical parameters measured in this study did not show much differences; however in general tasters preferred the screw caps with lower oxygen transfer rates. The length of time from bottling to tasting and analysis, however, may have been too short to truly distinguish differences.
This study compared the chemical and sensory effect of bottling Pinot Gris wine with Saranex and Saratin screw cap closures. No significant chemical or sensory differences were determined between wines; however, the amount of time in bottle storage (less than 4 months) may not have been enough to result in an effect. There seemed to be a slight preference for Saranex.
In a vertical flight of Petit Manseng featuring a 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014, the 2014 was the most preferred. However, this study did not examine the effect of age on the same vintage of Petit Manseng over time, so it is difficult to conclusively say that the youngest wine was preferred.
